Just thought when it goes on a go slow is the HDD active?

If it is,

its probably either the Indexing Service kicking in and scanning your hdd. This Indexes contents and properties of files on local and remote computers; provides rapid access to files through flexible querying language. In other words it sorts it for when you do searches. Disable it you don't need it.

The other is Task Schedular, this will do a check aswell. Another thing you don't need unless you have specifically scheduled something to run ie, defrag, AV Scan etc.

Have a look at the link I posted above. From what I can make out from this posting and the one you posted with regards "Remote Assistance" you have a lot of un-needed stuff running in the background and at bootup.

If you use the Bootvis utility that ellas posted make sure if you have disabled Task Schedular that you set it to automatic before running Bootvis or it wont work. When Bootvis has finished optimising you bootup you can then disable Task Schedular again.
