nellie2
A redirection problemhttp://www.windowsforum.org/forum/index.ph...&st=0&p=133396&I don't think it is malware related... although I could be wrong. Anyone got any ideas?
homecomputeraid
SamSpade shows those two sites very unrelated. I wondered for a moment if they were both owned by the same organization and there was a redirect on their end, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I also had problems when I was trying to find help to fix this. Alot of websites I tried to go to for adware help got me redirected to www.adwareremovergold.com.Is there something that could be getting around the HJT logs? Has he Reset Web Settings in Tools, Internet Options, Programs? Deleted temp files? Just trying to help Nel. :) It sounds like some kind of spyware to me, but I don't know how to identify it. :(Hopefully some of the spyware masters will be by to help! nellie2
There is nothing in the log that could cause the re-direction, I checked out the hosts file and that looks ok too! :uhm: Datematch.com is an ok site and I can't understand why he is being re-directed away from Friendster. You are right about the other site though, that is dodgy
homecomputeraid
Would it be ok to recommend a different browser, like Firefox, or SlimBrowser just to determine whether it's IE related?
nellie2
Yes but I think someone has already done that
homecomputeraid
Looks like LineOFire figured it out. That DLLCompare utility looks great too.Maybe I'm jumping the gun. The user hasn't said he's cured yet, but I'm learning good stuff here. :)
