Depending on your O/S - you get PC-cillin 7.5 or PC-cillin 2000 from the Halifax. Neither are the latest versions. I believe that the updates are free for a year - mine's been going since last November.

Having used both, PC-cillin makes your PC slower (with a PII 350 I do notice such things) than if you use AVG - because of the way it real-time scans.

If you're on pay-as-you-go dial-up - PC-cillin has smaller updates than AVG.

Both are very good in what they do.

I personally use AVG as the resident scanner, download the PC-cillin updates as well and do a full scan of both every couple of weeks.

For detecting trojans, backdoors etc - GAV is better than both.

I am a halifax banker and can get PC-cillin 2000 for free but I have AVG. Should I keep AVG or get pc cillin?

I can see nothing in he-he's post to warrant "watching"

Well I can't vote in your poll as I haven't used either although I do scan with GAV on a regular basis.

My Norton subscription runs out in a few weeks and I plan to move over to AVG then.

I think Boris has provided a good answer for you though he he :-)™ :)

Anyone can edit thier own posts he he :-)™ ........ha ha ha!!!

Anyway......back to your question, are you on dial up or bb.....perhaps you ought to think about the size of the updates and how long it would take you to download them etc.

The initial PC-cillin download to catch up to the latest sig versions was about 5MB (I think)
