syntax01010
Hi, I'm working on trying to get a new system for myself put together. I have the knowhow for installing the operating system and for building one a piece at a time without much difficulty. However, i'm stuck on a few issues and i'd like some assistance. The goal of this new system is to come up with a computer that will feature the best modern hardware that can be put together for the least amount of money. I am fairly certain this will involve going with an AMD processor since they usually beat Intel on cost fairly easily. I don't mind using OEM hardware either, since I know that helps save a lot on expense at times.I'm trying to get a system that will be at least 2.0Ghz in processor speed, preferably at least a little faster than that, which will have at least a 333 but preferably a 400mhz fsb or faster, that will have at least 512mb of ddr300 low latancy ram, a combo dvd-rom/cd-rw drive that can manage 16x dvd-rom reads and 52x cd-r burns, at least 80GB of hard drive space and a video card that will at least do decently on modern games. A DVD burner would be nice, but for saving on cost I can easily skip that for the time being. A 10/100 ethernet port is needed somewhere in the system for my cable modem internet connection. A dial up modem isn't needed. I have copies of a variety of OS's I can put onto it, but i'd like to get something put together that can run XP fairly efficiently without a lot of lag or slow boot and reset times.Any assistance for online stores to look at or product suggestions for what I should get to get the best system I can get put together for the least cost, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
