niehls Posted February 6, 2005 Report Share Posted February 6, 2005 i have a new asus s5600n laptop with an intel pentium M processor. I installed some third party software that installed the gv3.sys driver file for my processor (now obsolete as of sp2, intelppl.sys is used). After that, when i switched power supply from ac to battery or vice versa my computer crashed with a very fast blue screen with lots of info i had no chance of reading. I found thismicrosoft solution to the problem. i followed it (reinstalling the intelppm.sys driver) and the problem seemed to be solved. The difference is that instead of crashing when switching power supply it crashes randomly. after that i have formatted my disc and reinstalled windows xp pro. I still have the same problem. This leads me to believe i have a hardware problem which seems strange. Any of you encountered this problem? especially those of you who didn't fix the problem by applying microsofts solution.i really need some help to resolve this issue. Did you use an image CD from the manufacturer that overwrites any old partitions, or did you do some kind of rescue or repair of Windows?Are the crashes totally random, or do you notice that any particular applications are running during the crash? (totally random reboots after a clean install of Windows would indicate possible hardware problems of some sort)Can you find any clues in the Event Logs? niehls Posted February 7, 2005 Author Report Share Posted February 7, 2005 i believe that azureus is running most of the times. This may be totally wrong, but it's just a hunch. first, i used the recovery cds from the manufacturer. That didn't work. Then i manually formatted the hdd and used the recovery cds again. I don't know if it's important, but i've kept one partition of the hdd intact. This only contain some movies and stuff like that. i was looking through the event log, but i don't really know where to look or what to look for. i could use some help with this...thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Only posts about the following disc check was there. I've been running the system without any problem now since my last post. Looks more and more like azureus was the problem. Still seems strange since i haven't had any problem with that software (neither windows nor linux). anyways, i mailed asus tech support to see if they know of this problem. i don't have good experience with that kind of tech support (usual advice something like restart your computer with a dumb voice) but i'll try it out. it doesn't feel very good if azureus made my comp crash though.
