I added wireless capability to an older PC, PII 450, and intended to use with wireless connection. Reformatted, installed XP Pro, installed wireless, the machine finds the wireless network, excellent connection but I can not connect to the internet. Im beat, cant think why? I already have one PC on the network and no problems. Try to repair and get the message can not renew IP address, contact Administrator or ISP.

This line indicates that the router is not assigning an IP address. Most likely, the adapter is not connecting properly to the wireless network. Please take a look at my wireless networking tutorial and see if that helps. If not, then hard-wire the computer to the router and change the following:

Wireless mode - set it to B

Channel - Set it to 11

SSID - set it to your home telephone number

Then again follow my tutorial for connecting and try again.
