PC wont boot correctly

Hi all, my brother-in-law is having a poblem with his PC, it takes about 8 mins to startup and will it does it goes through a disk check and then finelly when it loads all the icons on the desk top it reboots and the process starts over again, we got it to go into safe mode if thats any help. can anybody help us????

He is running Win XP Pro with SP2

Intel P3 1Ghz

256 Ram

Whilst in Safe mode:

Right click on My Computer

Select Properties

Select the Advanced Tab->Startup & Recovery section

Select the Settings button

uncheck "Automatically restart" Apply".

This will give you a blue screen with the error message rather than rebooting the computer.

The exact error message will help identify the problem.
