XP SP2 and offline browsers

Hi all! Hope you can help me. I was using Internet Researcher (IR) since years with Win98SE without any problems. But that has changed since I installed XP SP2. IR is an offline browser. I still can use it the most pages I used to retrieve, but now when I try to open e.g. Google, I get the "File download-security warning" dialog. I can figure that IR retrieving from its data base on my hard disk resembles some kind of spoofing when converting to IExplorer compatible formats (html, php...). I disabled pop-up blocker and enabled File downloading and ActiveX without promts on IE Internet Options. But nada. The most strange thing is that it sometimes behaves normal with some pages, and the second time not. Once I had removed Windows Messenger, and the Google page was there and could enqueue searches normally. But later returned to the now typical behavior.

I know Several apps stop working with SP2 at all, but I can't say the same about IR. They released a patch for a Sspng.dll for troubleshooting with SP2, but don't answer any request for support. Some friend of mine told me also SSPng were a kind of protocol used by some offline downloader like Copernik.

Maybe there is somebody among you all who could understand what is going on. Thanx in advance :flowers:

Already solved. It was the wrong Java version.

WELCOME to WF. If you are new to XP SP2, you will find that whenever you want to download from the internet, you will be asked to approve or disaprove the download. This gives you a second chance and is for security.
