seasider28 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Share Posted March 2, 2005 Following my "disappearing partition" experience, I decided to reformat the disk and start again. I reloaded Win98SE and included one or two network bits thinking that I might connect my machines later. However, I now get the annoying request to enter a network password for MS Networking when I boot up. Can I get rid of this so that it doesn't appear any more? homecomputeraid Posted March 2, 2005 Report Share Posted March 2, 2005 Search for a password list file (Start, Find, and in the dialogue box type *.pwl). Find it and delete it. If you have multiples, it's ok to delete them all in Windows 98. When you login again, make sure your user name's ok and leave the password blank. I deleted the only pwl file, shutdown, restarted and pressed <ENTER> when it popped up again. Shutdown again and restarted but the box still appears. Any more ideas anyone? homecomputeraid Posted March 7, 2005 Report Share Posted March 7, 2005 You can try Start, Settings, Control Panel, and double click the Passwords icon. In the Password Properties window, select the User Profiles tab and make sure All users of this computer use the same preferences and desktop settings radio button.
