MS Works print prob

Recommended Posts

Using MS Works v6 Spreadsheet with Windows XPHome - which I have done for over 2 years - frequently but not always when I try to print (only 1 printer -HP PSC 2115) the print command seems not to get thru. I always set print area first, then either click print icon or give print command either from Print Preview or from File menu. After this screen goes blank apart from the title bar & stays that way. When I finally give up & try to close window I get a message telling me programme is not responding. This problem only occurs with Spreadsheets & it does 'nt happen every time. I am going mad trying to find out why & put it right. I have looked at the MS support site for Works>printing problems but there is no help there. Does anyone have any suggestions please ?

Hi Creditman, found this Item on the H P site, similar problem though not the same and applies mainly to win 98 > M E > 2000. but might at least put you on the right track of thinking until someone else suggest a remedy. It seems that the printer is prone to failing to print if system resources are low and suggest closing down all other programs, there is also a workaround [Fix] but again this is not for XP.

Can you let us have a few more details regarding your system such as how much memory it has and how many applications are running in the background when this happens.

Have a read here for now and try printing with other applications closed down. H.P. Help page.

Djohn - Thanks I will look at HP help. I had no other applications running & there is loads of memory available. I managed to print after restarting the pc, but this a.m I had the same problem trying to print from MS Works Word Processor (nothing else was running). Again after restarting it worked ok.
