Skinner
I have a HP Vectra VL420DT and I have looked inside at the slots, there are three. 2 are occupied with 128mb pc133 sdram, one each and the third slot is empty. Can I now stick a 256mb pc133 sdram straight in there?
expertec
Yeah, it should be fine. :)http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts....eries&submit=GoThat's the best place to get your memory, if you haven't already. What OS are you using, BTW? Skinner
Thanks for that, just using simple logic...see if it's still there...OS=WindowsXp
expertec
That's good... I thought perhaps you might have 98 or ME, which don't get on well if you give them too much memory. (512MB makes them slow down).
Skinner
Well I have gone ahead with the purchase and got a 256Mb pc133 sdram dimm (help I'm choking) chip for the Vectra. Apparently it can handle up to 3072MB ram in 3x1024MB.. Good computer OEM and solid as a rock, 1.6GHz Pentium 4, small hd though, only 20Gb
Cpt James T. Kirk
you could of went here to crucial and let it actually scan your computer and tell you the type of mem you needed. i just did it the other day and ordered a stick of pc3200 512 200mhz for mine and it only cost 60.00 bucks.http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/index.asp
