fikrilazam
I'm just wondering here, is there any other Disk Checking and Repair software that can REALLY do repairs in WinXP instead of being just a 'front' for CHKDSK?I've tried Norton's Disk Doctor and RS Software's Disk Checker, but when you set them to 'Scan and Repair at Next Reboot', CHKDSK comes out instead.Any explanations? The real problem is, when I ran RS's Disk Checker in Windows, it found some error and suggested to Run at Next Reboot. And when it did run at reboot, no errors detected by CHKDSK. Suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance though...
-pops-
Some software gives false positives, often to try and induce you into buying add-ons or further software to rectify the problems that it, and only it, found.I am not impressed by the RS Software web site where the headlines state "Free Software" but everything in the listing costs money. OK, the headline may refer to something else but it heavily suggests that the products on the page are free. The English is not very good either.Do you have a problems with the machine or are you just checking that things are OK? If there is some problem, post the details here and let our experts consider it.
fikrilazam
Some software gives false positives, often to try and induce you into buying add-ons or further software to rectify the problems that it, and only it, found.Hmm... haven't thought about that...Actually I dont have any problems with my PC, just checking if things are OK.But just for knowledge's sake, are there any disk checking and repair software that actually do the stuff ITSELF?I mean when you scan on reboot, the program itself runs, instead of CHKDSK? Because I've tried a couple of programs, freeware and paid, but when scanning on reboot, only CHKDSK runs. Thanks for the info above though... -pops-
If you are concerned about the hard drive functioning properly, you can often get a utility from the hard drive manufacturer that checks disc integrity for you.Don't get too worried about this, though. Provided you have an up-to-date backup (you do, don't you?) then you are doing all that you can to protect yourself and your system.
