hi i am after a little help with my network

i have 3 machines

the 2 xp are connected to a adslrouter using cables

the 98se is a laptop using a card in the side

i can connect xp to xp

both xps to 98

one xp will connect to 98 but the other will not

but it did last night?

while it worked i setup printer sharing for the 98 laptop and it worked great

i turned the laptop off and went to bed,

this morning when i tried again i got a message

is not accessible

the device does not exist on the network

this is only when i try to connect the laptop 98se to the one xp machine

i have checked the ip numbers and all are different

if anyone can help or anyone needs further info ill be happy to help so i can sort this prob out

all ips are diff

subnet is same

hi i did what you suggested but no luck,

after extensive reading on the problem i thought maybe it was something to do with the master browser thing so the laptop98se being the lowest spec on the network i found out how to disable that an still no luck.

the desktop it isnt connecting to isnt the strongest spec either

still all others are connecting to one another just not laptop 98se

to the one desktop xp home

The IP configuraiton of your network will help us to help you.

For the XP machines:

Can you go to Start, Run, type cmd, and hit Enter. In the command window that opens up type ipconfig /all on both PC's and post the contents here? It will look like the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\user1>ipconfig /all

After typing ipconfig /all, right click on the title bar of the command window, go down to edit, then Select All. Then right click the title bar again and go to copy. Right click in the response to this post and select Paste.

If you're uncomfortable posting this information, please PM it to me.

For the 98 machine, the procedure is the same except type command at in the run dialogue instead of cmd. Please post for all 3 PC's.
