Hi,

I'm looking for a tool or a way to launch a program in a different screen resolution.

I've tried some Virtual Desktop tools (paying and open-source) but they do not satisfy my needs.

I'm going to explain the problem.

We are using some old software which has a optimal screen resolution a 640*480. Our users are used to use these settings (or 800*600) but now we are going to replace these applications. So for the moment both have to run at the same time. The new application requires a minimum resolution of 1024*768. The problem is that for a lot of our users the resolution of 1024*768 is to small to read. So my question is,

is their anyone who ones a way to use a screen resolution of 800*600 and run only the new application in 1024*768 of run everything but the old application in 1024*768 and the old one in 800*600.

Any idea is welcome.

You can use the compatibility option on Windows XP. Right-click on the application's executable, select Properties, then tab Compatibility.

Thanks for the fast reply but I forgot to mention that it has to work on Windows NT 4 SP6a

You could upgrade to XP and run the old application in NT4 compatibility? But then you may have other reasons to keep NT4.

Hopefully someone else has a different idea.

Another possibility is to run the old software under VMware - there you could configue Windows the way you want it for the target software.
