pioneer dvd writer

Hi

When they are both connected at the same time, how are they connected?

If they are on the same ribbon cable then one needs to be set to master and the other set to slave, have you done this?

yes. matshita is set as master. the pioneer reads fine when both are installed, it just won't write. or to be more exact, it seems to start writing and then immediately fail. disks are subsequently unuseable. i should add that it works fine in pio mode.

Hi

Ok on the back of the drives you will see a group of 6 pins with a jumper/connector going vertically across 2 of them. and either stamped on the metal case or on a sticker near them you should see what is the master, slave & cabel select pins.

Normally from the left hand side looking at the back of the drive they go

Cabel Seclect---Slave---Master

Now i am guessing that they are both set to master

so the one that connects at the very end of the cable, set that to master and the drive that connects to the middle of the cable set to slave.

See how you get on

the only anamoly i see is that in device manager the matshita is set on transfer mode ultra dma 4 and the pioneer set on ultra dma 2 ... in the bios they are both on ultra dma 4.
