kevinh
i have two dvd writers installed, matshita and pioneer. the matshita works fine but the pioneer will not write at all. it does however work if i remove the matshita. i've spoken to the oem (savrow) and they have no idea, can anyone help me? Tony
HiWhen they are both connected at the same time, how are they connected? If they are on the same ribbon cable then one needs to be set to master and the other set to slave, have you done this?Tony
kevinh
yes. matshita is set as master. the pioneer reads fine when both are installed, it just won't write. or to be more exact, it seems to start writing and then immediately fail. disks are subsequently unuseable. i should add that it works fine in pio mode. Tony
HiOk on the back of the drives you will see a group of 6 pins with a jumper/connector going vertically across 2 of them. and either stamped on the metal case or on a sticker near them you should see what is the master, slave & cabel select pins.Normally from the left hand side looking at the back of the drive they goCabel Seclect---Slave---MasterNow i am guessing that they are both set to masterso the one that connects at the very end of the cable, set that to master and the drive that connects to the middle of the cable set to slave.See how you get onTony

kevinh
yeah i wondered that but savrow assure me that its not an issue and you'd like to think they wouldn't sell the thing with two burners if it was!
