It all started only after I created my personal login account (the computer was my wife's and I share it with her now).Now, when I start up Windows, the system detected this SIS PORT thing and tried to find the software for it. I have no idea what it is, and I've even put in my WinXP CD to attempt to let it detect a driver or something.Upon advice from another forum (I did a search on Google first so I don't always have to bother the very wonderful volunteers here), I downloaded this Lavalys EVEREST software to get an update for this SIS PORT. Still waiting for the company's reply.NOW, after I downloaded this Lavalys program, I start to have Windows also detecting this SM Bus Controller...and also unable to get the software for this (what on earth is that?) hardware.I looked into Device Manager to find out what the problem was...and also found another software without a driver (besides the other two) - Lavalys EVEREST Kernel Driver. I assumed all has no drivers because they were under the section with the huge yellow question mark.The closest thing to SIS I've found in the Add/Remove Programs was this SiS 650_651_M650_740. StMichael Posted May 6, 2005 Author Report Share Posted May 6, 2005 Yes, my wife reported the same thing when she logs on to her ID.It no longer tries to detect the devices again upon startup because I've enabled the option for the system not to search for it again. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted May 8, 2005 Report Share Posted May 8, 2005 Since the other thread has somehow gone off topic, and this one is anyway more appropriate, let's continue here.Can you list your (wife's) computer manufacturer, motherboard, chipset, graphic card, etc., so we can try to determine which devices work correctly, and which ones need drivers? I've attached the Report.txt file instead.Thanks for all the help, guys. Like I mentioned, my system appears to work fine without this SiS PORT working (for now!), since I've disabled it...but it just left me with a nagging feeling that some terrible thing will happen in the future when I least need it to happen! I have looked at it for quite a while (I am not familiar with Everest), but I cannot see what devices are not properly working.I've noticed a number of SiS units, but I am also not sufficiently familiar with SiS that I could recommend what drivers need to be installed or updated.
