I was thinking that this might be due to my cheapo PSU and wanted some kind of confirmation before I shelled out the money for a new one. My system is as follows:MSI KT6V-LSRAthlonXP 1700 Palamino (1467/133) (Its actually an AthlonMP)512MB PDP Patriot PC2700 CL2.5ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128120GB Segate PATAMemorex 52x32x52xMGE 400W PSU <-- freebieWhen I disconnect the CD burner from the PSU the computer tends NOT to reset all by itself. Also the 400W MGE weighs less than the 300W antec it replaced... not good...Also, recently my processor started showing up as an XP1800... even in CPU-Z... since i got the mobo& processor from a friend i don't KNOW what it actually is, but up until today it has read as a 1700.... funny thing is that the clock speeds are still those for an XP1700, but it says its an 1800... does this mean that I can up the clock... or does this mean that my PSU is frying it?Thanks for any input!-mcg Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Even remove them and reinsert them if you have to, making sure the clips snap into place. MrCommunistGen Posted May 14, 2005 Author Report Share Posted May 14, 2005 An athlonMP is an athlonXP in which SMP is enabled... or rather, one in which it is not disabled... all other specs are identical for any given Quantispeed rating (within the diferent generations... eg Palamino, Barton, Thoroughbred...) The program I used to find the specs on my CPU was CPU-Z which I assume does the same thing as Everest except that it only monitors the CPU, Mobo (busses) , and Memory. What was bugging me about the processor was that for the past 9 months it has shown up as a 1700 and as of a few days ago it now shows up as an 1800, but it is running at 1700 clocks.
