Guest mhartnett Posted May 20, 2005 Report Share Posted May 20, 2005 I use Erwin 4.0 with sp1 on my system as my data modeler tool. It uses MDAC to connect to my Sql Server 2000 Database. My Sql Server is at sp4. Everything worked fine when I was at xp sp1. I could connect to the db no problem. I loaded xp sp2 and am not able to connect to my db server anymore. I can use the tools that are provided with Sql Server 2000 to connect no problem. The error I am getting is fairly generic ... 'unable to connect to server'.I figure it is either an incompatiblilty of the Erwin MDAC implementation with the new xp sp2 upgrade of the MDAC components or it is a configuration issue with MDAC itself. Erwin is quite expensive even for the upgrade to 4.1. I am hoping I can resolve this issue and not need to put out the extra cash for the product.Any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated.Thanks. XP Sp2 loads MDAC version 2.8 which is not compatible with some clients that use MDAC. I just needed to go to the MS website and download the MDAC 2.7 refresh file and run it.
