bhinderh Posted July 14, 2005 Report Share Posted July 14, 2005 Hi,ive just installed a new motherboard and hdd, ive told the pc to boot from cd and it dose that ok.Once t loads xp pro from the cd it freezes when it says windows is now loading setup(in the blue screen).dose anyone know what the problem is?? its windows xp pro with sp1 - ive used this windows cd many times without any problems.thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
korgg Posted July 14, 2005 Report Share Posted July 14, 2005 Oki .. First try to enter BIOS and load defaults values and see if it is any change on windows install... Another way to see if this is a hardware faillure is to try to get your hands on knoppix CD and try to boot it... It it boots OK, them there are little chances to be a hardware faillure.. If not pls do that..If this fails, then the chances are that you have a hardware problem...if you still have the old mainboard test your hdd on it (if the components are compatible)... korgg Posted July 14, 2005 Report Share Posted July 14, 2005 Do you use the driver disk for the SATA controller ? The mainboard CD should have an utility that makes a SATA driver disk that should be requiered at the time of Windows install ... (during install you should see for a short period of time the message: "Press F6 the enter a driver disk" or something like this)...If you have done that then you should look for some updated drivers for your SATA controller.. korgg Posted July 15, 2005 Report Share Posted July 15, 2005 You have to make that floppy disk..Go to a friend and seek the utility on your MB cd-rom... If in trouble, see if there is a text file (readme.txt or so) on the root directory of the cd-rom and read it... I worked at an IT company and i handled all the assembly and service... korgg Posted July 16, 2005 Report Share Posted July 16, 2005 This is not so good... On the motherboard is everything connected right ? The cpu cooler ? I got BSOD one time when I forgot to connect it.. Temperatures OK in Bios ? If all this are OK then you should check your RAM for errors... Make a diskette with memtest86... and leave it running for at least 2 hours.. If there are no errors reported, then your MB needs a change.or you could try to change the memory with another module and see how it works...
