Prince of Calcutta
I have an mp3 file that i'd like to add as the background music for a site.. problem is that it is 4 mb in size and could take a while to download especially for people on dial up.So i'm looking for any software or tips that would help reduce the file size so it would load faster ?could i convert it to other formats or is there anything i could use to cut it into a smaller clip? Guest moon
Monkey's Audio gives a large reduction in file size without loss of quality. It's also reversible without quality loss. I've only used .wav so far but the results are very good. I'll search it out in a bit. :)Voila ! ....and it's free. madboy33
hi moonreducing the file size in .wav from say 42mb to 32mb is ok but to add a sound to a web page, the file size is still massive
Guest moon
Right. I'm just a novice to webbuilding but I've got a gut feeling that the answer is in Flash media somewheres. I look at New Media written in Flash and some have got instant sound, good sound too. I'd be delighted to know how it's done.

mmmbisto
lol, I'm here ;)I used Flash for mine. The reason the file size is so small though is because I didn't need the quality really.

I couldn't figure out how to put on a "stop" button on my flash intro for the music. Even it got to me that I couldn't stop it and I had a pop up as well, so it owuld keep playing after I clicked the link. Haven't got round to the play button yet though.
