hey I'm wondering how I could possibly view avi/mpeg films and videos on my TV. I'm interested in hooking up my Laptop directly to a TV via the round port in the back. It has a picture of a TV under it.

So far, I have two cables. I've tried to connect both but failed.

Can anyone possibly show me a picture link of the correct type of chord. Also, I'd appreciate any advice from someone who has successfully managed to watch laptop movies on the TV>

Thanks

The tutorial:

Well I have an analog TV, so the tutorial advises ONLY using the S-video method to connect my TV to the

Laptop.

That's ok BUT, right clicking on my desktop to bring up the advanced setting monitor/video controls reveals

that I actually don't have a section on S-video modification. I have Xp home and know a little bit about

computers. I still can't find the access controls.

The tutorial says you must activiate S-video on your computer and then connect the S-video output of your

lap to the S-video input of the TV. I've done this but NOTHING appears on either screen. I think I have a

software issue here.

I have a cicero 1401 laptop. I have a round (4-pin) output on the back of my lap (with a picture of a TV

underneath it).

Considering the TV is NOT digital - S-video connection seems to be my only choice. I'm just hoping my

laptop is able to connect via S-video. I need to know how to confirm this.

I've checked Device Manager and found that I have a SiS accelerated graphics port (don't know what this

means or if it helps).

My adapter type is SiS 650. It says Adapter String is SiS Comptabile VGA. No mention of S-video. Monitor

is at 60Hz refresh rate.

SiS stands for Sillicon INtegrated Systems. http://www.sis.com.tw

32MB is the memory for my Graphics card. Drivers are 2.11 and up to date.

Woah - Look what i found: I'm going to try this - It's my best bet so far:

How can I get the SiS TV-OUT function enabled?

A: SiS TV-out function supports both NTSC and PAL system. You have to select the one which matches

your TV system. In general, it is controlled by a jumper on the motherboard or the graphics card. We suggest

you to check your user manual out for the setting. The following is the instruction to connect to TV:

1). Connect with TV by either a S connector or an AV connector.

2). Boot the Win95/98/ME system up then you will find the tap SiS TV-OUT under Display Properties. Choose

the display mode to VGA+TV or TV Only then you can get the TV-OUT.

3). If using Windwos 2000, there isn't a tap under Display Properties, Please set your display mode on

640*480 60Hz for NTSC, or 640*480/800*600 50Hz for PAL to get TV-OUT. Don't set your display mode to other

mode for TV-OUT, most TV set can't support other display modes except above mode.
