Rebuilt
Hello guys and gals, Onto the problem!! Bought civ 4, installed it, clicked on the short cut and........ It dont run <sob>. I cant connect to the net to check it out as the only internet I have is at work and anything from firaxis/civ 4 gets blocked as "games". It starts to load when I click the short cut but then comes up with "check XML" and crashes. Anyone else have this problem and know a fix? Kind regards!!! -pops-
Hello. Welcome to NP.Don't know a lot (nothing actually) about XML but I sure someone here does. In the meantime, have you looked at http://www.xml.com/ which tells you something about it and should be accessible from your workplace? Rebuilt
Pops thanks for your reply, From what I can gather from previous examples the XML files in Civ 4 contain values for unit stats within the game and some scripts for events contained in the game. When the game installs it seems to fails to inport the text from the .zips on the DVD leaving the said XML files empty. I have browsed the DVD and the .zips in the installer folder will not open with win zip. and instead give me the error "not a valid .cab" file. Really im just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, did they source a fix, is there perhaps a faq out there that details it as a well known problem etc etc???
