korgg Posted December 21, 2005 Report Share Posted December 21, 2005 I bought a notebook for my sister: Fujitsu-Siemens V2040 with a SATA hdd . The chipset is an Intel ICH6M ... Since the notebook came without a floppy drive a I have a problem with the install of Windows XP ...There are a number of options.. First I can try to integrate the drivers in the Windows kit and make the setup program to load them at the first boot...This is how I began ... The other way is a little tricky... I should have to make a Win 98 boot disk and to set the ramdrive to drive A: and also put there the driver files for SATA... And hope that setup can see them there when I press F6...This ideea came a little too late though and it has a few disadvantages ... In case of an uninstall my sister should follow the same steps and I do not think that she would be so happy ... Integrating though gives her no headaches whatsoever I followed all the steps as described HERE AT PC-STATS(a very well written tutorial, might I say ) and is still not working ... The setup doesn't see the hdd ... I looked over the Internet and still nothing seems wrong... A little help would be appreciated ... korgg Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Share Posted December 29, 2005 Yeeeeeeeeeees ! I did it ! Well, i was a little coward so to say, but I gave nLite a try ... It helped me in the old days of Windows 98 and found it again these days ... So, if you need to tweak some windows setup settings get it from here .It really made me happy because it supports now and windows 2000/xp and has some really neat tools...Worth a look ...
