Laptop noises.

Hey,

I have a wierd problem. I'm running XP on a Cicero 1401 laptop that's less than a year old. Recently, I've noticed a couple wierd occurances.

1) My AC power (not the battery inside the laptop) but the actual black rectangular external power box starts to make electrical buzzing noises when left plugged in.

2) My on-screen mouse pointer (both from the laptop source and the external mouse) begins to halt when in motion. It appears as if I have to many programs running, but killing processes from the Task Manager doesn't free the halting motions of the pointer.

I don't get it. I've already ran ad-aware, ms antispy and avg virus check and nothing. I've restarted and disconnected the AC power (and nothing).

The computer has an international 3 year warrenty (which covers things like replacing LCD, etc). I'm wondering if my computer needs service? I bought it in May 2005 in Canada, now I'm in Malaysia.

WHat should I do? DOes anyone recognize these symptoms?

The AC adapter making electrical noises sounds dangerous! I would replace it as soon as possible. I don't know Cicero, but you should be able to check their website if they offer any services in Malaysia. (Where are you - K.L.?)

As for the mouse pointer problem, if it is a mechancial mouse, then it could simply be dirty. Clean it inside and out. If it is an optical mouse, then I don't know.

What I would do if the mouse pointer problem persists

- make sure the mouse is clean

- check with the task manager if anything is running with either high CPU usage or high memory usage

- check if a newer mouse driver is available (make sure you install the correct one, not just a similar one)
