I have a desktop which is connected to the internet using an ethernet card. Internet connection is fine. I have a wireless laptop which connects through the desktop to the internet. Internet connection is fine. The daughters laptop has a wireless usb adapter. Adapter is fine but only occasionaly can i connect to the internet through this computer. An error appears

LIMITED OR NO CONNECTIVITY.THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED BECAUSE THE NETWORK DID NOT ASSIGN A NETWORK ADDRESS TO THE COMPUTER.

when i checked the ip address of the my daughters computer the ip address was 169.254.196.187

The ip address of my desktop is 192.168.2.3

The ip address of the laptop is 192.168.2.4

Sounds as if my daughters desktop has a ip address problem.

Anyone have any solutions?

regards

Scott
