William P
My computer is running very slow. Hour glass by cursor blinking on & off 50% of the time. In task Mgr. "sytem idle process" is using 85-90% CPU (in synch. with hourglass). Cannot end this process. What is this, and what can I do about it. WIN XP SP2, Defragged, Norton AV, Webroot spysweeper,Spybot S&D no cure. I do have GoBack3 installed so I can try just about anything and recover from it. Just don't know what to do? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Hello, and welcome to the Windows Forum. The system idle process is exactly what its name says: it is idle - it does nothing except counting the idle CPU time. If your system idle process is using 85-90% of your CPU time, then 10-15% is used by something else - you should concentrate on the non-idle process(es). If nothing helps, go to the hijack this part of the forum, read the instructions how to obtain a HJT log, and post it there for someone to analyze.
