silin
I have a recovery CD for the laptop and I'd like to install windows xp twice, one on the hard drive and the second on the external hard drive so that I have two windows systems for different purposes. Is it possible and will the system on the laptop hard drive work if the external one is removed?
Scarecrow Man
Theoretically it would work, as long as your BIOS supports booting from a USB device.Recomendations for Booting Windows from USB Storage Devices may help. You should make sure your BIOS supports USB boot before you continue. Contact your motherboard manufacturer, or visit thier website to find out.
