custom20 Posted February 15, 2006 Report Share Posted February 15, 2006 the problem i have is i tried to install a new hard drive 200g 7200rpm maxtor,bios reads the hard drive,formatted the drive with the maxtor disk ntsf then tried to load window xp pro it will load drivers then go to the screen where it says do you want to install windows hit enter and then goes to the end user agreement hit f8 it will not go any further just stays there , i have tried my copy of home edition also does the same thing thanks for any help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted February 15, 2006 Report Share Posted February 15, 2006 Is there already a drive with Windows installed?If so, remove it, replace with your new drive and you should be able to install afresh.Note that Windows XP will format the drive for you.Remember that you cannot have the same copy of Windows XP installed on different computers. Why did you do this rather than let the Windows disk format for you?I take it that the Windows disks you are using are full legal versions i.e. not upgrades, "recovery disks" or corporate editions. Hex Posted February 20, 2006 Report Share Posted February 20, 2006 Try making a WINDOWS startup floppy. If you have a PC running windows XP you can do this simply by going to:START>MY COMPUTER>Right Click FLOPPY>Click MAKE WINDOWS START UP FLOPPY.Insert this floppy on startup and use FDISK to do the formatting, see if that helps.
