Jayno
Can anyone guide me on what to do?I have upgraded the driver software for my printer today and it works fine. Unfortunately something seems to have happened when I was deleting the old driver and this has affected my Norton security software. I have (or had) Norton Personal Firewall and Norton Systemworks (includes NAV) installed. After doing the printer driver change I needed to restart the Puta. When it rebooted I started to get error messages telling me there were some kind of glitches with InstallSheild, designation problems, programs would close, I would need to go to Symantec technical pages etc etc. The error messages I got appeared to be related to missing .dll files - the ones I managed to note down were defalert.dll, mscoree.dll and navprod.dll - their may well be others. I think there is also something happening in relation to common core client 103 (whatever that is!). I am now bemused. I don't really understand any of this. I've tried uninstalling the Norton stuff and reinstalling it (I have the original discs) but the problems remain. Should I replace these various .dll files? How do I do that? They seem to be available at various places on the net, but if you want to download them you get prompts asking what programme you want to open them in? I don't really know what I am doing so I have held back.Bloody pain all thisjayno
scuzzman
Try doing a syetm file check. To do this, you'll need your Windows disk. then, go to Start -> Run and type in:sfc /scannowFollow the wizard, restart, and see if that solves it.
