Hi and evening.

Can anyonre give me an explanation as to what each are...

usb hub which have found out by buying one and

setting up but in the device manager there is also universal host controller.

plus a usb root hub.

I know the hub I bought is a generic usb hub, is the root hub the one that is integral or within the pc on a card?

Thanks

universal host controller.

usb root hub.

I have just bought a hub to set up and came across the other usb items in device manager.

would I be near if I thought the root hub is the one either integrated into the mother board or plugged in? and just wanted to know what the controller did.

As I understand it, the USB host controller is equivalent to a "driver" and provides the controlling software for the USB root hub which is the base level hardware and circuitry on the motherboard that supplies connection with the outside world and provides the signal for processing by the host controller.

Not explained very well but I hope you can understand what I mean :)
