I have a PC which is on a LAN and it is accessing internet through that LAN. There are three users on it. Administrator, user1, user2. Scarecrow Man Posted March 29, 2006 Report Share Posted March 29, 2006 You can set user2 to use proxy settings and this will restrict all LAN traffic.Just open Internet Explorer, Tools > Internet Options > Connections. Click LAN Settings, and enter a proxy server. Make sure bypass for local connections is checked, or the user will not be able to access the internal LAN.This is not an answer to your problem, but is an easy way to stop internet access from one user but not another. The only problem is, the user may figure it out and remove the proxy settings.You can use almost any IP address for the proxy, but I usually use 10.0.0.1 port 10. But just out of interest, for what are you wanting to block a computer on your LAN from Internet access? Is this for restricting children from bad websites?If it is for that reason there are some good programs that you can store on their computer which monitor what they do and limit what sites and Internet services they can use and the settings can only be changed by the person who knows they password. You could lock yourself out of things you don't anticipate, including your system.
