Buck
I got 98 installed to replace ME on an HP Omnibook Xe2, but on the first run, the normal "Insert the Win 98 SE Disk" thing came up. I put in the exact same disk I used to install windows, but it kept saying the drivers (not the video and audio drivers, the ones Windows needs to run), weren't on the disk. I just kept clicking "skip" when one of these errors came up, and now when I start the computer, I get an all black screen saying that "vnetbios.vxd" was interfering to the windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file and that Windows could not find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application. Also, now when I try and open "Internet Explorer," It preforms and illegal opperation on "Msoobe." Any suggestions?
Scarecrow Man
Do you have any important data on the drive? If not, you should format and start from scratch. You may be able to fix these errors by using system file checker, but a reinstall is sometimes easier.HOW TO: Extract Original Compressed Windows Files

Buck
I do not believe XP has ever been on the system, and even if it was I have reformated the hard drive multiple times. Thanks, though.Do you think that another reinstall of 98 (I just reinstalled) would help anything?
Besty
Did this happen a while after a reformatt or just after one??
