Startup sound lenght

Mine runs for 17 seconds with no probs?

You got same OS as me?

Is there any initiating of sound devices after desktop has appeared? Because I've checked my startup folder and MSConfig and I see no reason why the sound should be stopped after only 10 secs.

Have you tried an even longer sound? Perhaps your system is slower than mine, and the device/whatever hasn't started loading yet? :-)

Is it a service you have running?

services.msc

I have tried disabling all non-MS services, but it had no effect. I also tried disabling all services that are not crucial, but then I ended up getting no sound at all (I tried leaving Windows Audio running, but it seems audio relies on some other service too).

I have just tried another and it worked, I have uploaded it to my website, download it and see what happens for you.

You will obviously have to rename the file.

I will remove the file in 24 hours.

Heh, that one works (still playing actually). Then why doesn't mine?? The file I want to play is this one: http://rapidshare.de/files/14418444/nokias...ramais.mp3.html

I used EtalonSoft MP3Decode to transfer it from mp3 to wav, and I ended up with a 5Mb file.

I have dragged down your file and loaded it into Windows....I get the full 30 seconds....I quite like it too, think I will keep it. B)

I used Cool edit Pro to edit the extension.

Yeah, it's a nice little song (or rather part of a song). Seems I have to get hold of an excorsist to fix my startup sound problem, though O.o
