Rename short_filename to long_filename

Hello,

I have this situation:

we use some old (FOXPRO DOS) salary software that generates some report files. The names of that

files must be now longer than 8 chars. I've tried some batch file like this: REN <short_name> <long_name>

but it doesn't work under Win 9x. Is there some way to do that. I mean a simple way (perhaps some

scripts -I've never used such thing-) that works on Win9x and XP.

I can do my own rename program, with VB but that means to install libraries, etc.
