whisperer Posted April 11, 2006 Report Share Posted April 11, 2006 Hi,Both my wife and I are suffering similar but independant symptoms on our networked computers. As we are well protected I do not believe it to be malware connected.Symptoms seem to start with the Start > Programs selection displaying an 'Empty' word only, this can then spread to the Documents folder and eventually develop into the inability to even get the Start button to display any options - it is selected as the dotted rectangle is displayed around the word Start.The only way we have of curing the problem is to do a cold restart.Any ideas gratefully received Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Are you on XP?Hi Nellie,Yes Defrag, Chkdsk and Sfc all run, might have done some of the etc but for the life of me can not put a name to them :) Using XP Pro.A possible other symptom is the order of the 'Quick Launch' bar is being changed from what I have set it to, to one that places the ie icon first with a non alphabetical or any other sort of logical sequence following.All of the symptoms are random in that I have not been able to find a sequential element at all Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
