Hotmail 'new messages' linking to Windows user accounts

Hello all, my first post :)

Does anyone know of a way to 'disassociate' your Windows user account with your Microsoft.net account? I basically am trying to remove that little message that says "14534 new messages" under my user name in Windows login / Switch User screen (I have multiple users)

My Hotmail account has been overrun with spam and I don't use it any more...

Control Panel - User Accounts - Change Account - There should be a setting to change the .net for that particular user, just delete your name off of there, or use your current email account :)

EDIT - Just tried it myself, don't think that you can leave the boxes blank and use nothing, so perhaps lie and give it a false username, or put in your genuine email address/pass and leave the assosciate box unchecked... A bit of trial and error is needed I think, but am sure you can do it from there.

When you say Microsoft.net, do you mean Passport.net ? If so, just click on the little SignOut button

Yes - I did mean my passport account - I just don't want the Windows 'switch user' to show under the user namethe number of Hotmail new messages...

If you sign out from Passport.net, next time sign in either chose 'Save my e-mail address' (but not the password), or 'Always ask for my e-mail address and password'. I think that should solve your problem. (But I am not 100% sure as I do not use Hotmail).
