andyou Posted April 21, 2006 Report Share Posted April 21, 2006 HiCan any one help?The problem I have is that when I am using IE6 I write a web address in the address bar and then press go or the enter key nothing happens. Also if I click on the dropdown menu on the address bar the system hangs and normally crashes. This problem is not only an IE6 problem, when I use any office programme I try to save the document and I can not use the navigation drop down menu to save the document in the “save as” dialog box. I have used system restore this solved the problem for about 3 days, but it has come back!!!!!To add another twist to this is that I have a laptop that has the same problem, again I used the system restore to sort the problem, the laptop has not reverted back to the problem as yet. Type in "Repair" (without the quotes) and follow the instructions.For MS Office, you can similarly use the repair function but in this case it is most likely you will need the original disks. Check your Task Manager, and the processes running, there was one in there that had many multiple instances. I Ended all the processes and renamed the file to FILENAME.old, and this solved the problem. Although they have just text me to say its returned!! Will let you know if we make any progress, and i'll try to find the executable name in the mean time. I'm pretty sure it was an MS bug, I thought it may have been with software that they had installed, but if other people are having the same problem also, who knows!EDIT - Just spoke to the client again, the filename that needs destroying ( ) is 'verclsid.exe' It's in the system32 directory, I renamed it to verclsid.old and that solved the problem, but something is re-creating it. It looks to be a legit file, so maybe there's a corruption since the latest MS updates. Trying to contact Mr. Gates Now! For temporary basis, just end all processes with verclsid.exe running, and then delete/rename the file in your system32 directory. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
