CDROM/DVDRW Restarts PC

Recommended Posts

Hi.

can anyone help? I've recently installed a Benq DVD DD DW 1640 Recorder as an addition to my original AOPEN COM4824/AAH CD Writer. I've set the AOPEN as the slave and the BENQ as master on their own EIDE connection. I'm using Nero 6.6.0.18 on Windows XP Professional. Whenever I try to copy from one drive to another (Either way) the PC restarts! I can burn to either drive in data/mp3 format so there's no problem with the drives........so how do I resolve this problem? If I put any cd into either of the drives the PC Reboots but after restart I can Read or write to the drive! Why? Any help appreciated!

Cheers

On the fly copying (as you are trying to do) is not advisable - as you are finding out. It puts a lot of strain on the computer which is trying to read from one drive and write to another at the same time. Writing to an optical drive takes a lot of power and this may be the reason for failure.

Far better, safer and the recommended method is to copy to hard drive first and then write that copied information to the writer.

Being digital, there is no danger of quality loss by using this additional procedure and it is certainly more reliable.
