checking the port mapping of the current computer

Hi guys

I just joined this forum and I would like to ask some questions.

One of my friends wants to run ftp server on his computer, and I was wondering how to check

the port mapping of the current computer ont the router that you are using so people can access from outside.

I tried to use Boxmonitor, but it takes too long, to scan all the ports open for the router, and his router is running dynamic ip address resolution.

If there is no other way, then I guess I have to tell him to use port forwarding.

One last question, if router uses port number to direct the packets to the right computer,

does network adaptor process it to direct to the right application(ie, local ports on pc)?
