xaccessxdeniedx Posted May 2, 2006 Report Share Posted May 2, 2006 I currently have Windows XP SP2 installed on my PC and I am looking to wipe the hard drive and install 2000 on it. When I put in the disk it says "This version of Windows is older than your current one. Install options have been disabled." I can't do the install from disk option and I cannot do a restart and boot from disk. It says "Booting from ATAPI CD-ROM..." but then it just skips to the Windows XP screen. Is there a way around this? I tried a boot disk for 2000 but it just gave me "Disk I/O Error". What gives? Thank you in advance for the help. pa1916 Posted May 5, 2006 Report Share Posted May 5, 2006 You can not install W2000 over Windows XP as Windows 2000 is the older OS,if you have a floppy drive put a W98 or WME floppy into the drive and reboot on the prompt choose without CD ROM support and type FDISK and choose delete the none dos partition remove the floppy and insert the W2000 disk and reboot W2000 should then load as normal.You will require all your driver disks and you will require the W2000 updates 75MB+ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
