Workgroup Fiasco

Hello everyone, I just got here and I need some help. I've been trying to share files between my dad's desktop and my laptop. I'm usuing a wireless connection, with my internet modem going through the netgear wireless router, and then into the pc (Both pcs have XP professional). I'm trying to have both pcs in the same workgroup, but when I click on 'view workgroup computers', the pc locks up for a minute and the error message 'Home_Network is not accesible. You might not have permission to use this resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.' I desperately :( :( :( need help. Thanks for your time. :)

Make sure you have the Microsoft client on both computers. Your Local Area Connection properties should like the following:

To find out, click on Start, right click on My Network Places then click on Properties. Right click on Local Area Connection then click on Properties again. You should get a window that looks like the above. If you don't see Client for Microsoft Networks, and File and Printer Sharing, you'll have to add those. Let me know if either is missing.

Both of my systems have those. But on one of my systems (the desktop) I try to click on the workgroups button in my network place, and then it says 'Home_Network is not accesible. Have you tried disabling the firewall on both computers temporarily? Can you ping them?
