humbletech99
When I use a share, it's credentials seem to be cached because it doesn't ask me for the password again. Is there a way of flushing the credentials cache so that I can try a different password?
homecomputeraid
It's a little inconvenient, but a reboot will do it. I think there should be a net share command to accomplish this, but haven't found it yet.
humbletech99
reboot isn't really an option cos I have too much running on this machine to reboot...i'll have a poke around net command...

humbletech99
from what i understand the persistent option is only for the re-establishment of the share after reboots when using a mapped network drive.I have done \\hostname\share in an explorer window/or start run command and it has kept the username and password I supplied, which I really want to flush out... so I can use another username/password for that same machine, now if I go to any share on that machine it goes straight in and doesn't give me the chance to enter a different password.... homecomputeraid
I understand what you're saying. Once you're authenticated, you aren't prompted to again. It's convenient most of the time, but I don't know how to cause a re-authentication request other than rebooting yet. If I'm able to find anything, I'll post it. homecomputeraid
I've been expiramenting with TCPView and Process Explorer from Sysinternals, but so far haven't found anything that resets the cache.
