Uninstall Windows XP Professional

Hi,

Until recently, I was running Windows XP Home edition on my PC. Then I decided to upgrade to Windows XP Professional. Unfortunately, instead of upgrading, I installed Windows XP Professional in parallel with Windows XP Home, on the same disk partition.

Now, I would like revert my PC to the original configuration. In other words, I want to uninstall Windows XP Professional, and keep Windows XP Home.

I'm not able to find any uninstall options in Windows XP Professional.

Any advice?

try this...

in stall windows xp home on windows xp pro and check if you can get your work back... i dont know if it will over right all the personal files... check up on that.

Hello, and welcome to the Windows Forum.

I assume that you installed XP Pro on a separate partition? I further assume that you now have a multi-boot system (that asks you at startup which Windows version to boot)?

If so, 2 steps

1. Edit the boot.ini file on the C: root and remove the XP Pro line
   
2. Delete the XP Pro partition

@bhups: the Home and Professional edition exist in parallel. They're installed next too each other.

@Pat Willener: both Home and Professional exist on the same partition, with a dual boot indeed. When I start up Home/Professional, I can see all files of Professional/Home. There is now a second Windows directory, called Windows.0, and a second Administrator called Administrator.0. Hence it seems Home and Professional are completely separated.

Anyway I did the following:

1) I removed the line of XP Professional from boot.ini.

2) I deleted the Windows.0 directory and Administrator.0 directory.

That seems to work. I doubt that my PC is fully restored to the state before I installed XP Professional, but the differences are probably not too big.
