remote login with no Guest account

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I just reinstalled W XP, everything seems to be ok a part when a user try to login from another PC.

The login form appears, but with the user field disabled and so, without any possibility to specify other username except for the Guest account, wich actually result be disabled.

Attached you can see how this mask appears from other computers.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try this

You probably have the anonymous logon enabled and by default it takes only the 'Guest' user. You need to edit some settings on the machine you are connecting to...

  1. Start -> Run -> secpol.msc
  2. Goto Security settings -> Local Policies --> Security options
  3. For the policy 'Network access:Sharing and security model for local accounts' change the security setting to 'Classic'
  4. Save the settings

thank you very much for your help.

Now it ask me the username. The only thing is that from the remote computer I can't see the shared docs folder. Normally is displayed without any modify in the shared settings.

Have you any suggestion about it?

Thanks again.

:D
