Error Code 1072

Recommended Posts

Having reinstalled Windows XP, I inserted the Magic Install CD which contains all my necessary on-board drivers. When the program started up the only options I was given were "Browse CD" and "Exit". When I scrolled over "Exit" a message appeared saying that all my drivers had been installed and that it was reccommended that I restart my computer. Despite knowing that this was not the case, I restarted anyway. Nothing changed after the restart.

I have since reinstalled Windows, Defragmented my hard drive and even used a new copy of the Magic Install CD.

Occasionally, when I try to open the install file, the program doesn't load. Instead, the following error appears:

Error Code 1072 ( 430H ) :

The specified service has been marked for deletion.

I'm totally confused. All the hardware was running fine when I reinstalled which makes me think it can't have anything to do with the motherboard. The only reason I installed XP was because it had been a few months (I reinstall every 3-6 months).

Please help!

Welcome to Windows Forum.

Do any of the results of the MS search match the error you are getting?

I am not familiar with Magic Install CD. What exactly is its purpose?

Why do you re-install every 3 - 6 months? I am sending this message from a computer (my main computer) that came into being 26 October 2001 - the day after Windows XP was launched. I have never felt the need to re-install the operating system.
