Printer Problem

I have connected a printer to my PC(USB001) running Windows XP professional. But everytime I reboot it loses the connection but XP prompts me that it has found new hardware and recognises the name of the printer. I have to reinstall the driver everytime I reboot. Totally Stumped.

Un-plug the printer and unistall the drivers, Then restart windows and reinstall the drivers "Without" the printer plugged in , Restart windows again and while it's booting plug the printer back into it..

Try that and let us know what happens.. ;)

Thanks mate but I tried that and when I plug the printer in during reboot XP comes up with the found new hardware box. Also nothing in the printers and faxes area. Keep having to reinstall everytime I reboot.

All printers (especially Epson) require to be installed EXACTLY according to the method given for that particular model. Otherwise they malfunction - sometimes in the way you describe.

The way that printers are installed varies from make to make and from model to model within the same make.

With the printer disconnected from the computer check if it appears under Printers & Faxes. If it does appear under that heading, delete that printer. If it does not, then search the computer for any instances where that printer software may be present and delete them.

Re-install the printer software according to the instructions given. This is very important. If it states you install first without the printer connected then it is vital that you do that. If you need to connect the printer first, then obviously do that instead. Do not deviate at all from the "correct" method.
