how I log into the mail themselves ON the site I have yet to sus out ; I searched last night for a mail tab but with no success :censored:

??does that help my fellow talkgas comrades?

I have also located this bit of info

Thankfully talkgas is not my main ISP which is probably why I didn't spot it until day 2!! Although had a backlog of over 70 e-mails.

What puzzles me is why there was no notification and how indeed are we to go to webmail. I have tried logging in but it says it is the incorrect password or username!!!

I have e-mailed but as yet have not had a reply.

Thanks for your help I have at least picked up the mail. ;)

Bluejay;I think the problem may arrise if talkgas is not one"s "main address"(which it is not with me)

is talkgas your main ISP?

try again to quote!!!!

I THINK the problem may lie in the realms of the ISP"s

mine is not talkgas nor is yours?

so I guess we would not get any notification; however, one can grab the mails from server via OE B)

and how one loggs in to see mails..........

ask me another!!

let me know if you have any progress please

of interest have you tried

https://secure.supanet.com/login/mGZsY5Vsk2...JI%3D.99c10245/ and see what happens?

Hi

Just thought I'd say a big thanks to people on here for their wisdom. just spent the best part of an hour on various different phone numbers to british gas, talktalk and onetel all of whom contradicted the previous person and then gave me a new number. B@STARDS!! Fortunately it was only a rarely used email address, as I use Tiscali for Braodband. Talktalk even tried to get me to sign up a new account!!

Anyway, rant over. with the help of the people on the forum I have now popped my mail from the supanet address.

Thanks again

Neil

Hi Neil_b and welcom to the forum and to the talkgas discussion ; I am glad my original query with this seems to have helped more people than I had anticipated :flowers:

many of us seem to have problems of one kind or another with this; so we can perhaps help one another :)

I'd like to second Neil_B's thanks especially to P;3 for posting the POP and SMTP addresses. I can’t believe that British gas can just hand over there e-mail users to another ISP without a single word to any of us. I’ve tried looking on the Supanet web site to see if your web email access can be achieved through that but I’m afraid I drew a blank, my Talkgas username and password wasn’t accepted. Sorry boys but thanks again.

I am of the distinct impression that the whole thing has changed; the new settings were originally court3esy of a reply I got via another forum when I found myself unable to log in

I have since investigated further on the web page

I can still send and recieve mails iN OE using ther new settings. but still cannot get onto the server and I suspect they will tell one one has to reregister or whatever

of interest. who on this thread actually has talkgas or supanet as their ISP?

(PS my thanks to the Mods and Admin for allowing us to continue this discussion here)

I used to use talgas as ISP when i had dialup, but moved to tiscali broadband over a year ago. they have been great - not the cheapest now, but as I work from home my company pays the bill :o)

It was acually my girlfriends account as I have used hotmail (windows live) for email for over 10 years now, again, no complaints (sorry all those anti - gates people).

Neil_B

PS Still waiting for a call back from one telephone operator's line manager that I was very close to swearing at for giving me the number of the people who had just given me hers. I was told her manager wasn't in, but would ring me back. Also no reply from the email I sent. Still waiting...........

Thanks again

Another PS

The only thing I learnt from the phone was that Talkgas was turned off on the 30th November. And that they sent out email of how to get/send mail etc. Hmmm can you smell that?? it's Bullsh1t!! No emails from them when I popped the mail. Maybe it was filtered by their spam buster.......

just received this. It's fine except for the incorrect ISP for outgoing mail.

Dear Customer

Thanks for your e-mail. It appears that talkgas.net is no longer handling your e-mails. I apologize for this inconvenience, to resolve this issue you just need to set up a new account through outlook. You will still have your same e-mail address and none of your e-mails should be lost.

1>Open outlook and click on the tools menu at the top and select accounts.

2>Select the mail tab and click on add, then mail.

3>Type in your display name, this is only for your reference. Then click next.

4>Type in your e-mail address then click next.

5>Incoming mail is pop.supanet.com and outgoing is smtp.supanet.com and the server is POP3.

6>You will then be asked for your username and password, make sure to include @talkgas.net at the end of your username.

7>This will finish the setup. Now go to tools again and accounts.

8>In the mail tab make sure your supanet account is highlighted and select properties.

9>Now click on the advanced tab and ensure you smtp port is 25 and pop is 110.

You should now be able to send/receive your e-mails as normal. If you require any further assistance then please do not hesitate to mail me back.

Regards

Steve Clayton

try again to get this to post;;

the talkgas experience all sounds very messy;

and where DOES one log in to get ones mails on server? I think there seems to be a complete lack of support...or is that only me thinking that?

maybe I need to dare to try mailing talkgas meself and see what response I get!!!

Feel a bit better now. Just had a call from the (indian) call centre line manager. Told he hopw rubbish teh service was and that no one knew what to do and that they lied when they said that emails had gone out. Advised maybe to put something on the FAQ's of house.co.uk. She said that she was going to tell her superiors as they were getting a lot of these calls. I even mentioned this forum and that there were a number of people who were annoyed. 6 minutes of rant felt good

And Relax................ :o)

of interest; talkgas surely must know what is happeing, as . when I put in my talkgas URL shortcut to talkgas.net it does not come up as "page cannot be found' or "cannot find server" which it SHOULD do , but heads off to the british gas page;

and I too have mailed support at talkgas to see what they have to say; so far received an automated response

??maybe they do not wish to keep their "customers"?

P3 edit

tried this

https://secure.supanet.com/login/mGZsY5Vsk2...JI%3D.99c10245/

said "I am an existing customer"

merely takes you to

https://secure.supanet.com/package_compare/...JI%3D.99c10245/ which you can get to via another route anyway un logged in anywhere; so what is the point?

so one is still left "out in the dark";

They’re going the right to loosing them. I changed most of my emails over to Tiscali the last time Talkgas was down for a full week, the rest of them will be getting changed over after this, they’re not worth the hassle.

I think it a good idea to shift contacts you have regulary to a mail adress you know will work; and leave this one on the sidelines; I merely retain it as I have some contact who still use it;

MY big bug bear with it is that , if they knew this was in the pipeline, WHY did they not inform ?

the other day I came on line and got my "normal" talkgas page; the next time I got the "new page"; I THOUGHT my browser had been hijacked

hopefully this will be picked up by the talkgas people on here

a place to log in to check your mails

http://webmail.talkgas.tv/cgi-bin/LoginManager.cgi I think you may find it looks familiar? courtesy of a mail I received from the support mail

"The mailserver has changed location. We were trying to keep talkgas.net addresses viable but unfortunately this is not possible. Your servers and e-mail account will be changing to talkgas.tv if they aven't done so already. You will also need to access your webmail at " ( see above address)

so far this has worked for me :D

let me know if this also works for you?

Hi P3

I take it we still have to use supanet.pop in the incoming mail server?

Thanks very much for all your hard work can now also access webmail thanks to your help.

Very much appreciated :D :D

pop.supanet.com is the INCOMING server;

the outgoing server, I for one have had to change to accomodate my specific needs

I am DELIGHTED that this thread has helped someone to sort their problem

dont get too settled though as the British gas page is under revamp again

how is the rest of the team progressing ?

For the past week the webmail server access

http://webmail.talkgas.tv/cgi-bin/LoginManager.cgi

has been giving the message below

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/LoginManager.cgi on this server.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/1.3.26 Server at webmail.talkgas.tv Port 80

anyone else had this problem?
