How to transfer COA to a new case?

Surely, someone must have run into this issue before, but I'm wondering how I transfer the COA label from my current case to the new case that I just purchased. I understand that windows licenses are non-transferrable and cannot be transferred from PC to PC, however the components inside the computer have remained the same, only the casing has change. I'm assuming that this is allowed, however maybe I'm wrong there too? Anyways, the COA is on the side of my old empty case and it's not possible to remove it without damaging it, for obvious reasons. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I must say you are the first person I have come across that has been concerned about this.

You are right, these stickers are designed so that they cannot be successfully removed - for security reasons.

Assuming the machine is not changing ownership, just changing case, does it matter that the CoA sticker cannot be removed? Provided the Product Key is available, perhaps even on a home made sticker, you are complying with the spirit of the requirement, even if not the detail.

Even if changing ownership, if this is a one-off and provided you explain to the new owner the situation, applying a new sticker conforms in essence to the Microsoft requirement.

I have seen numerous commercial purchased machines that are devoid of CoA stickers so I doubt that the Gates secret police will be coming after you for doing as I suggest.

It is important, though, to have a record of all Product Keys and registration numbers for other hardware and software in a machine - just in case the worst happens. What I do is keep a record on a slip of paper kept in an envelope inside the computer case.

Okay, thanks for reply. The case is junk anyways, maybe I'll just dremel it off and give it to the new owner if I sell it. As long as it is provided.

There is also another way which I've used in the past. Phone Microsoft UK explain the situation and they will after verifying your product key is legal, issue you with a new number then place a block on your current number. I seem to remember that part of the validation used was the original product key number and the numbers under the bar code on the label, these 2 numbers allow them to establish where the copy was bought from and check if its a retail version or OEM on a separate disk or pre installed on the hard drive.

kool what number do i call for the new coa abd do the send you out a sticker and is there a cost for this ??? it sounds a lot easier then dremel it off in a circle around the coa and using tap bolting it in place on the new case...
