multiple network cards

Situation:

I have a PC that I connects to a VPN (from time to time) without internet connection. This PC is (by default )connected to a LAN with INTERNET CONNECTION.

Everytime the PC connects to the VPN, it is DIS-CONNECTED to the LAN.

Question:

How would I be able to connect the PC to the VPN without loosing connection to the LAN or at least without loosing internet connection.

I tried two LAN cards and configure it with my very limited know how, but of no success...

Can anybody help me?

FYI: The PC is Windows XP Pro SP2 with IP: 192.168.0.11/12 Gateway 192.168.0.1

It is a security feature to make it so someone hijacking your computer via the Internet can't 'piggy back' on your VPN connection. It is a setting that is easily changed if you're using Microsoft's VPN Client. Are you using Microsoft's Client, or a different one like Cisco or Nortel?

WinVNC and NetScreen Client installed

It depends on how your network administrator has configured the Netscreen Client. I'm not familiar with Netscreen, but there should be some kind of option that allows you to use the remote gateway, or not. To be able to be VPN'ed and still access the Internet locally, you would turn off the option of using the remote gateway.
